Obituary of Jacques A. Cournoyer
Granby -Jacques A. Cournoyer, Sr. 70, passed away suddenly on April 21, 2024, at home surrounded by his family. He was born on Aug. 17, 1953, in Drummondville, Canada to Paul and Georgianna (Plante) Cournoyer. Jacques was raised in Holyoke and attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help School. He moved from Holyoke to Granby in 1986. Jacques was currently employed as a driver at Mt. Holyoke College, a job that he truly enjoyed. He previously worked for Waste Management for over 10 years. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, and he was a beloved Montral Canadians Hockey fan. He loved to relax with a bowl of popcorn while watching The Three Stooges and Looney Tunes. Spending time with his grandson Garrett and his family is what brought the most joy to his life. He was predeceased by his wife, Carole A. (Baker) Cournoyer in 2009 and three siblings, Gean Guy Cournoyer, Gilles Cournoyer and Paul Andre Cournoyer. He is survived by his children, Kellie Cournoyer and Jacques Cournoyer, Jr., both of Granby, his beloved and only grandchild, Garrett David Cronk of Granby and his father Steven Cronk of Chicopee. He is also survived by his siblings, Nicole Pare of South Hadley, Carmen Roman of South Hadley, Serge Cournoyer of Holyoke and Robert Cournoyer of Holyoke, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Calling hours will be held on Fri, May 3rd at Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home from 4:00pm-6:30pm followed by closing words of remembrance. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Shriners Hospital for Children or the American Heart Association.
