Obituary of Wayne R. Soriano

Granby- Wayne R. Soriano, 67, passed away on May 8, 2023. Born in Springfield on August 8, 1955, he was the eldest son of Elvie C. and Hazel M. (Daigle) Soriano. Wayne grew up in Springfield, after traveling with his family during his father's military career in the Airforce. The family traveled to Greenpark, Japan, Cape Cod and New Mexico. For the past 36 years, he has lived in Granby. Wayne worked for almost 50 years as a skilled carpenter at Baystate Medical Center. For 10 years, he also served as a volunteer firefighter and EMT for the town of Granby. Wayne loved spending time outdoors hunting, fishing and camping on the river with his family. His memory will remain with his wife of 43 years, Diane L. (Chaisson) Soriano, along with their daughter, Alyssa J. VonHollander and husband, Eric, of Agawam, and their children Avellina L. and their baby due in July. Wayne also leaves his brother, Brian Soriano and wife, Julie, of Springfield; sister, Tina M. LaScala and husband, Richard, of Chicopee; as well as sister-in-law and brother-in-laws, Jeanne and Tony Smigiel of Chicopee, Mary Chaisson Sullivan of Southampton, and Lawrence and Pam Chaisson of FL.; nephews, Eric Chaisson and Chatel of Belchertown, and Nicholas Soriano and Lauren of CT.; nieces, Cullyn Chaisson of Easthampton, Samantha Dufault and Kyle of CT, and Gina Marie Sawa and Christopher of Chicopee also survive him. Visitation will be held Monday, May 15th from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home with a closing blessing to conclude.
