Obituary of Joan Diane Lemieux

Enfield, CT - Joan D. (Brunelle) Lemieux, 89, passed away March 28, 2022 at home with her family by her side. She was born on October 12, 1932 in South Hadley, MA to Alphonse and Beatrice (Gagne) Brunelle. Joan was born and raised in South Hadley and graduated from South Hadley High School. Joan has resided in Enfield, CT for the last 50 years and was a communicant of Holy Family Church. She was a lifetime member of the Pioneer Valley Water Ski Club. Family meant everything to Joan. She loved spending her summers along the banks of the Connecticut River surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. You would often find Joan in a chair by the river with her feet up, bird watching, while working on a word puzzle. Her grandma sandwiches, pink mints and sleigh rides will always hold a special place in her family’s hearts. As a die-hard UCONN Women’s Huskie’s fan, she would be thrilled to know that her girls pulled out a win for her the evening she passed. She will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 65 years, Edward H. Lemieux of Enfield, CT and three children David Lemieux (Irene) of Chicopee, Linda Bey (Carl) of South Hadley, and Lisa Papoutsakis of South Hadley. She is also survived by her nine precious grandchildren, Amanda (Mark), Jessica (Peter), Christine, Richard (Amberlee), Timothy (Allison), Matthew (Ashley), Anthony, Michael and Karley (Alex) and eight great grandchildren, Charlotte, Christopher, Adelynn, Emma, Parker, Hunter, Nora and Loukas. She was predeceased by her six siblings and her son-in-law Theodore Papoutsakis. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 3rd from 2:00-4:00 pm followed by a service at 4:00 pm at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
