Obituary of David Bernier, Jr.

South Hadley- David W. Bernier, Jr., 41, passed away December 30, 2021. A loving son to David and Joanne (Jolivet) Bernier, born January 7, 1980 in Northampton. David graduated from South Hadley High School in 1999 where he played football and baseball and attended Westfield State College. As a child, he was active in the CYO youth basketball program and helped to bring his team to the Western Massachusetts Springfield Diocese Championship with a 26-0 season. Having a passion for cars, he began working for his dad as a young teenager at Dave's Auto Body in South Hadley- a job he maintained for over 25 years. David was a true outdoorsman and enjoyed spending as much time as he could in nature. He loved boating, fishing, camping and bonfires, snow skiing and mountain biking. He took after his Grandma Jane with the gift of a "green thumb" and spent time in his gardens growing a variety of vegetables and flowers. As an avid fan of New England sports teams, he enjoyed watching and cheering on the RedSox, Bruins and Patriots every chance he could. The one thing more important to him than anything else was his family. David was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Arthur and Jane Bernier; maternal grandparents, Roger and Lorraine Jolivet; and uncles, Richard and Arthur Bernier. He will be forever missed by his parents, David and Joanne Bernier; his precious children, Damon (14) and Delanie (10) Bernier; his brother, Matthew Bernier, wife Kelly, and their children Isabella, Lilly, Malakai and Trystan of Hawaii; his brother, Nicholas Bernier, wife Rebbecca, and their children Camryn, Mia and Macie; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 6th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, January 7th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Theresa's Church in South Hadley. Please meet directly at the church.
