Losing Les is certainly like losing a majestic, huge tree in the forest. He was a kind, generous friend and mentor. His photographs are among my prized possessions. I am so sorry to see him go, and I am so glad he stayed as long as he did to grace us with his presence, lift us with his slide shows and surround us with beauty by sharing Sky Meadow. Goodbye Les, and thank you for being so amazing.

I worked with Les and Terry at Quabbin for a number of years, and then, during my year as Friends of Quabbin President, we together completed many, many projects including the Quabbin Fiftieth Year of Remembrance Celebration. Les has been my mentor and friend for 40 years. Much of the very essence of what Quabbin is and has been, was so deeply embedded in Les Campbell's very soul that the two were - and shall always remain - indivisible. Les and Terry will ALWAYS be present at Quabbin.
Rest well, my dear Friend. God Speed.

Tom and I were just talking about Les and Sky Meadows this past weekend. Les was always willing to share and teach and chat. I so enjoyed many many trips to visit Les at Sky Meadows.
We send our sympathies to his family but are glad that we knew him and glad that he brought joy to so many through nature and photography.

Wonderful memories of a kind and nature loving soul who photographed many Northeast Music Camp photos along with many beautiful slide shows. A picture is worth a thousand words and Les captured just the right moment! Rest in Peace and may good memories last a lifetime and bring comfort to those you left behind. Sincerely, Heidi (Sandahl) Davis

Our condolences Dave, Ellen, all of Les's family, relatives, friends, and all who loved and will miss Les. He truly was one of the town pillars and one of Old Schools' finest. A very humble and talented individual who has left a hole in the art world and the fabric of Belchertown. There are a lot of people out there with some form of talent or gift of artistry or whatever but not that many who open their hearts and themselves to others by giving that gift through sharing and teaching that sense of accomplishment and joy of doing like Les was always willing to do. It says in the Bible to not hide your light under a bushel but to share that light with the rest of the world and Les was a master at that. I've always thought that the biggest shame was when people who have been given a gift from God in the form of some talent, take that gift and leave this world with it - never having passed some of it along to others that they too might share in the joy of it. The world, especially Belchertown, was and is a far better place because of the legacy that Les has left behind. He did not waste that talent nor fail to share it with whoever wanted to learn. Too bad that today people are more of the me generation and less of Old School people like Les. We'll all miss you for the gentleness and kindness of your soul, Les - rest easy Sir. We loved to visit and chat with Les at his studio. He was always a soft spoken man and so knowledgeable about Quabbin and all the surroundings. He will be sorely missed. Our condokences to his family.

Les was the best. What a gentleman. And so talented. I took an art framing class from him and he loved to help us learn all the essentials. He opened his doors and hearts to help beginning framers like myself learn. And he was so loved at the Quabbin Art League. I can not imagine him not being there.
It is a loss for the art world and for the town. He was such an essential part of Belchertown. But I send my deepest sympathy to his family and to his dearest friends. We share in some small way your loss of a wonderful man. Thank you for sharing him with us. We will all miss him.
