Obituary of Susan J. Sullivan

Susan Jean Smith Sullivan passed away unexpectedly on August 28, 2020. Susan was born June 28, 1943 in Holyoke, MA and was the second daughter of Henry and Erna (Schaar-Schmidt) Smith. She attended school in South Hadley, MA and later graduated from nursing school, obtaining her LPN license. She worked in a nursing home before marrying Ronald E. Sullivan on May 7, 1966. Susan loved growing plants and flowers, which thrived under her care. She enjoyed playing cards with her many close friends who she cherished dearly.  Susan loved a good shopping trip and always delighted her family and friends by selecting presents with the utmost thoughtfulness.  She always had a way of making every occasion special for those she those she touched with her caring nature.  Susan loved horses and she and her horse “Lindy” spent many hours riding and participating in horse shows.   Her witty and delightful sense of humor and caring heart will be sorrowfully missed by all those who loved her. She leaves behind her beloved husband Ronald of Chicopee, MA.  She is also survived by her son Brian and his wife Anne of Kennebunkport, Maine; and her son Glen and his wife Audrey of Ludlow, MA.  Susan also leaves behind her three grandchildren Hannah, Alex and Meredith. Susan is additionally survived by her sister Judith Newman and nephew David of Great Falls, Montana along with her Cousin Jackie and Donald Caron and family. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Erna Smith, in-laws Maurice and Cecile Sullivan and Uncle Francis and Aunt Emma Stonier. A private burial will be held at the family's convenience.
