I just learned of Martha's passing. I am so very sorry for your loss. Martha was a dear friend, working together at Pathfinder and pontoon boat riding on the lake. So many laughs, along with challenging moments, explaining technology to Martha. Although I have not seen Martha in the last couple of years because I had moved out of state, we talked from time to time or the occasional text; not nearly enough though. My heart is sad, because her bright light is no longer shining, but I have many memories that will bring a smile to my face, or the shake of my head. Dear Martha, rest in peace.

We are sending our sincere sympathy to all of Martha's family. Mike enjoyed serving on the School Committee with Martha. We also camped at Tidewater Campground and have fond memories of campfires and ice cream gatherings. Our thoughts are with you all during this stressful time.

So many Barretts,so many gifts. David & Steve, Bucky & Family, Bev, Garky, Sandy, Andrea, Carol, Joanne, Ed. and all the clan, So sorry for your loss but glad that Martha was in your lives. You all were with her permeating mine,in neighborhood, church, and in so many ways! I enjoyed many walks at Quabbin with Martha even as she was grieving. It was great to see her smiling again and facing the future. I think caring for Shirley was the tonic she needed, as so often thinking of others helps one cope. Although I feel a personal connection with you all, I also wish to convey condolences for the BHS Class of '65, not just for our Bucky but because you all were in our lives and were good examples of the spirit and involvement of good ole Belchertown. You are in our prayers, and I know that Martha is singing in the choir in Heaven AND havin fun at the same time!!
Christine ( Gould ) Harper,

I really enjoyed Working with Martha over the years. The library was such a special place. I remember her opening the doors for students and staff when there were deaths of staff, on 9/11 and when The Challenger crashed. She wanted to let kids have a quiet place to mourn. I loved her sense of humor and her love of horses. My heart goes out to her sons and her grandchildren. She will be missed.

So many fun times working together, traveling to Hampton Beach and taking a ride in her Mustang. Martha marched to her own drum but I understood where she was coming from. I’ll miss her. Judy Mercier
